    The Icelandic Nurses' Association (Félag íslenskra hjúkrunarfræðinga) has approximately 4800 members of which 3800 are active. Membership is open to nurses with full nursing qualification and registered by the Icelandic Ministry of Health.

          Akademias is a platform for the education and training of the future. Akademias works with individuals, companies and institutions to promote knowledge, ingenuity and skills with the aim of creating value.

          The Icelandic Nurses’ Association offers its members free access to dozens of online courses through Akademias.


          These are diverse courses covering a wide range of topics, from health and well-being to finance.

          Akademias is a platform aimed at enhancing knowledge, creativity, and skills with the goal of creating value. With this initiative, the INA seeks to meet the educational needs of nurses on their own terms, at a time that suits them best.

          Akademias provides many online courses in English aimed at people that have immigrated to Iceland. Here are the available courses:

          • Children and families (for immigrants)
          • Democracy & Welfare society (for immigrants)
          • Education & Skills (for immigrants)
          • Employment (for immigrants)
          • History, geography & way of living (for immigrants)

          How to access

          Courses can be accessed via our booking site, under the gjafabréf og kort-section and then Akademías.

          By logging into the booking site with your electronic ID, you can request a code that grants you free registration with Akademias. You will then receive an email to confirm your email address and set a password—it’s recommended to save this password on your computer.
